The pages you are about to visit were put on the Internet to give a small contribution, together with other websites, to the knowledge of the Marshes of Fucecchio. The high value of these wetlands is also testify by the presence of many animal species, migratory, permanent and vegetable. The pictures were taken without seeking for any special effects; this was done to show what simply the Marshes would be like before the visitors’ eyes, trying to emphasize particularly the charming differences between the cycles of the seasons. At the beginning, this website had been made only in Italian, but the structure of the web, which allows visiting the published pages from any part of the world, suggested making an English version, too. People from this area consider that wetland to be of great naturalistic interest, but it is certainly little known elsewhere. Let’s hope, of course, that greater attention to the several small oases near us will be given. Actually, we are often prone to take little account of the areas which are near us. Let’s hope we can thoroughly understand the importance of these small charming ecosystems and preserve them from extinction. If you are interested in going to see the places you can admire here, please read the caution page carefully. I would suggest your taking account of any possible no entry sign or closing to private property.
This website is private and was carried out and is maintained with personal resources; it is not part of any public or private organization. The pictures it contains can be downloaded only for spreading and no profit purposes, only under written permission and mentioning which website they were taken from.
This website was designed and created by me, Fabrizio Natalini, when, after going to these places for many years, I realized how wonderful they were; I simply decided to share some beautiful photographs hoping that I could really contribute to preserve this little natural heritage. Special thanks to my wife, Fabiana, who often comes with me to the Fucecchio Marshes and contributes with her own photos, and to my dear friend and cousin Sergio, for his always patient help to translate these little web pages into English.
I must express my special thanks to Enrico, from the Centre for Research, one of the best expert on this ecosystem, for his always prompt assistance by giving me information and for his very beautiful fauna pictures which you can admire on the page which has been dedicated to them.
Thank you very much for your visit and your kind attention; and please send your comments to my address! posta@padule.org For full information and especially for the guided tours inside the Marshes and the scientific spreading activities, please contact the Research Centre, Record and Promotion of the Fucecchio Marshes, following the instructions which you can find on the e-mail page.
